The Champions of the Earth Award seeks to amplify this call by highlighting people and organizations all over the world that exemplify leadership and advocate action on sustainable development and climate change.

Tell us who your Champions of the Earth are!
In solidarity with the United Nations 2015: Time for Global Action for People and Planet campaign, and as this year’s Award Ceremony will take place at the UN Summit for the Adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, this year’s Award will focus on:
  • Visionary policy leaders who have demonstrated and inspired global political will in promoting initiatives and policies that advance inclusive and sustainable growth.
  • Forward-looking companies and business leaders who have transformed their business models for sustainable development, and have been leading the way towards green and sustainable investment.
  • Members of the scientific community who have advanced the science-policy interface and continue to offer the best available scientific evidence of risks and opportunities to inform decision-making.
  • Grassroots advocates and doers that empower undeserved communities and show how inclusivity can be achieved alongside sustainable prosperity.
Announcement of Winners:
Winners will be honored at an Award Ceremony and Gala Dinner to be held on 27 September at the UN Summit for the Adoption of the Post-2015 Agenda in New York. This prestigious event will be attended by senior officials from the UN and the diplomatic corps, UNEP Goodwill Ambassadors and other celebrities, executives from the private sector, members of the global NGO community, and the international media
